It has been widely publicized that people attend Accident & Emergency (A&E) departments with minor injuries and non-life threatening conditions. A&E departments should only be used to assess and treat those with serious injuries or illnesses but there appears to be confusion over alternatives to hospital care.

The Guardian App has been created to support:

-Decision-making about your urgent care needs. Guardian will help you identify suitable alternatives to attending A&E departments and will remove the confusion around services such as visiting your GP, your chemist and Minor Injury Units.

-Location SMS. Will help you find the location of your nearest Minor Injury Unit, Pharmacy, Dentist or Optician helping you decide where locally you can obtain advice and care.

-Basic first aid to support you before the experts arrive or to help you manage your injury or condition at home.

-Life Saver. Animated guide will teach you how to perform hands only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), CPR with rescue breaths and to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and save a life!

-In Case of Emergency (ICE) function will allow you to send a text to your chosen contacts to tell them that you are in need of help. This function will also send your GPS location coordinates to your ICE contacts so that they can find your location on a map.

-My Vitals allows you to input your keep details such as blood group, aliments, medication, and whether you receive care from a hospital etc. This will make treating you much quicker if there is an emergency situation.

Medication reminders will help you remember when to take your medication to help you manage your condition.

-News feed will keep you up-to-date with the latest health related issues and medical advances.
